Why MedSpañol exists

The mission began with a person Iván could not forget.

In 2019, while training as a physician assistant, Iván traveled to Sierra Leone. At a local hospital, he met John Kargbo, who hoped to become a physiotherapist.

John made a problem impossible for Iván to ignore. Visiting clinicians can help during the days they are present; a person educated within the community can continue helping long after they leave. MedSpañol began supporting John’s education as one practical answer to that problem.

The same responsibility shapes the clinic: care should leave a person with more understanding, a plan they can continue, and people who remain accountable for what happens next.

Begin with what matters to you

Care should leave you with more than an appointment.

Four short questions, then your account. Start with the concern, question, or goal that matters to you.

Creating an account does not by itself establish a clinician-patient relationship or guarantee an appointment. If you may be having a medical emergency, call 911.
