What began with a medical mission in 2019 has grown into a long-term effort to help build a permanent community clinic in Sierra Leone.
How it started
It started with a chance meeting.
In 2019, Iván traveled to Sierra Leone as part of a medical mission. That’s where he met John. John was working at the facility where the team was providing care, and wanted an opportunity to learn healthcare.
That meeting became a relationship that continued long after the mission ended. MedSpañol helped support John’s education, and he eventually graduated as a physical therapist.
Now we’re working toward something bigger: a clinic where John can serve his own community.
